{on finding your way + the people who love you}
someone recently wrote to me, because she was feeling a little lost. so I wrote a note & posted a quote. and then I decided to post a song. a song that someone once played for me. someone who always believes in me, maybe even more than I believe in myself. someone who knows me, maybe even more than I know myself. someone who is always there to remind me of those things, in the moments that I need it most. and I realized something. something that maybe I already knew. I realized that knowing & remembering & being who you are doesn’t just depend on you. it’s about the people who love you unconditionally, who see you for all that you are, and who never let you forget it. it is one of the greatest gifts you can give to another person.
so I just wanted to say, thank you. to my sister, who once played that song for me. who never lets me be anyone other than me. who always, magically knows exactly what to say. and who, time & time again, makes me believe in me. I love you more than you know.
